Manage apps
Create an app, change its settings, upload an icon, or delete and restore it.
Open Apps to see the apps owned by your signed-in account. Select an app to open its Releases, Integration, Public changelog, and Settings tabs.
Before you start
Managing apps requires active account access. To create one, prepare the following information.
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| App name | A name between 2 and 80 characters in the creation wizard. |
| Public slug | An available URL name using lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens, up to 120 characters. For example, my-app. |
| Default locale | A language code such as en, de, or fr-CA. Use a valid BCP-47 locale, not a language name such as English. |
| Bundle ID | Your iOS app's identifier, if you enable iOS. |
| Package name | Your Android app's identifier, if you enable Android. |
| Store link | An HTTPS link on apps.apple.com for iOS or play.google.com for Android. Optional for creation, required before publishing that platform. |
At least one platform identifier is required. The identifier must match the mobile app that will use VibeUpdate.
Create an app
The new app's public changelog page and search indexing are enabled by default. Draft notes remain unpublished. You can turn the public page or indexing off in the Public changelog tab after creation.
- Select New app from Apps.
- Complete Identity. Enter App name, review Public slug, and set Default locale. The wizard regenerates the slug when you change the app name, so check it before continuing.
- Select Continue.
- In Platforms, enable iOS, Android, or both. Complete the identifier fields and any available Store link fields.
- Select Create app.
Your permanent app ID confirms creation. Use Copy to keep the ID for integration. It does not change when you rename the app or change its slug.
Continue through Integration to Test release, where you can select Create draft or Skip test draft. The quickstart walks through this last part. Creating the app does not connect the SDK automatically.
Change app settings
- Open the app from Apps.
- Select the app's Settings tab, not the account Settings item in the sidebar.
- Edit the relevant fields.
- Select Save changes. The Changes saved message confirms that the settings were saved.
Identity and language
- Name changes the displayed app name. Settings accept up to 120 characters.
- Slug changes the public changelog address. Previous slugs remain reserved and redirect to the new address while the app is available. You cannot reuse a reserved slug, including one previously used by this app.
- Default locale sets the fallback language for release notes. Before changing it on an app with published releases, add nonempty shared changelog text in the new locale to every published release. Otherwise the change is rejected.
- Website URL is an optional HTTPS link for the public page.
- Description is optional and accepts up to 500 characters.
See Localization for release translations.
Platforms and store links
Use Bundle ID and App Store URL for iOS, and Package name and Google Play URL for Android. Store links must use HTTPS and the matching store's domain.
Keep at least one platform identifier. VibeUpdate rejects removal of a platform's identifier or store link while that platform has published targets. If you need to remove them, first review and unpublish the affected targets.
Changing an identifier can stop existing mobile builds from matching this app. Coordinate it with the person responsible for the mobile integration rather than using it as a display name.
Public visibility
The separate Public changelog tab contains Public page enabled and Allow search indexing. Save those changes with Save changes. Disabling search indexing does not make an enabled public page private.
Upload an app icon
Selecting a file uploads it immediately. You do not need to select Save changes for the icon.
- Open the app's Settings tab.
- Under App icon, select Upload icon and choose a PNG, JPEG, or WebP image.
- Wait for Icon uploaded.
The image must be no larger than 2 MiB, with width and height no greater than 4096 pixels. Uploading another icon replaces the previous one. Renaming a different file type to .png does not make it a valid image.
Delete an app
Deleting an app immediately makes its SDK checks and public changelog unavailable. It is not the same as unpublishing one release. You can restore the app for 30 days after deletion. After that window, restoration is unavailable and the app is eligible for permanent removal with its releases.
- Open the app's Settings tab.
- In Delete app, select Delete app.
- Review the confirmation and select Delete app again, or Cancel to keep it.
The dashboard returns to Apps, where the app appears under Recently deleted with its removal date.
Restore a deleted app
Restoring an app does not reset its release targets to drafts. Existing published targets become available again, and the public page returns if it was enabled.
- Open Apps.
- Find the app under Recently deleted.
- Check its removal date and select Restore before the restore window ends.
The app returns to Your apps. If you see app restore window has expired, the restoration deadline has passed even if the app still appears in the list.
If a change fails
The Something went wrong message includes the rejected value or rule when available.
- For a slug conflict, choose a different slug. Current and previously used slugs can both be reserved.
- For a locale error, use a language code. If you are changing the default locale, check the shared notes on published releases too.
- For store-link errors, check both HTTPS and the store domain. A generic website link is not a store link.
- For an icon error, check the format, file size, and dimensions. Internal server error does not identify the cause and does not necessarily mean the image is invalid. Reopen the app to check its current icon before deciding whether to retry later.
- For an access error, check Account and access.
